JAMIE CARTER-POETIC VIEW OF NIGERIA

We are our own enemy
A pointless chase towards resolve and thence
What we feel is hyperbolic apathy
The need to feel what we believe is true
Even in stark reality…even under the shade of the A-bomb’s mushroom cloud
We’d find cover in the bunkers, the consciousness of death quickens the pulse of societal machines
Drives the tankers towards a placebo of freedom enshrouded in blood and fire
Fastens the hold of the grip on the bureaucratic choke hold of progress we've killed for
The machination of the people will only lead to furtherance of our extinction whether economic or worse
We know, we’ve embraced its dire warmth…kissed its cheek and let it do same
From afar there is no difference…no contrast between the colors of love and war
We are our own enemy, because we change the user but leave the flawed machine of society running.
